Is Washing Soda and Washing Powder the same thing?

The terms "washing soda" and "washing powder" are not interchangeable. Washing soda is also known as sodium carbonate and washing powder is a laundry detergent.

  8. Due to its highly alkaline nature, washing soda works well for removing stains.
  9. Boiling water and washing soda can be used to unclog drains.
  10. It is used to remove the permanent hardness of water and is also used in glass, soap, and paper industries.

Washing Powder: The chemical formula of laundry detergent isC18H29NaO3S.

  1. Any synthetic product, except soap, which is an efficient cleaning agent and an effective surface-active agent in both soft and hard water, is considered a synthetic detergent.
  2. Surfactant-based detergents are ideal.
  3. As a result of their amphoteric nature, meaning that one side of the compound is hydrophobic and repels water, detergents are good at removing dirt and other substances from clothing.
  4. On the other hand, the hydrophilic side of the compound is the one that will easily stick to water.

Hence, washing soda and washing powder are not the same things.
