Factor theorem states if p(x) is a polynomial of degree n1 and a is any real number then xa is a factor of p(x), if and only if p(a)=0

Given equation is p(x)=8x4+12x318x+14
By using factor theorem, (x1) is a factor of p(x) only if p(1)=0

Here, p(1)=8(1)4+12(1)318(1)+14
=8+1218+14
=3418=160
Hence, (x1) is not a factor of p(x)
