Solution

Reason for “easier to swim in seawater than in river water”

  1. We know that upthrust from water is required for swimming and the density of the fluid matters in order to gain that upthrust.
  2. The denser the fluid, the more the upthrust.
  3. Now, Seawater contains dissolved salts which make its density more than river water.
  4. Hence upthrust is more in seawater than river water.
  5. Thus, it is easier to swim in seawater than in river water.

Hence, it is easier to swim in seawater than in river water
