It is easier to turn the steering wheel of a large diameter than that of a small diameter. Give reason.
The turning effect produced is large when the torque is large. For a large diameter steering, the distance (r) between the point where the force (F) is applied and the axis of rotation of the steering is large. As we know, torque, τ = r × F.
So, the torque is larger for large diameter steering. Hence, it is easier to turn the steering wheel of large diameter than the steering wheel of small diameter with the same applied force.
