$= \frac{35}{10} L$
In denominator of the fraction, power of 10 is one, so, shift the decimal point of numerator by one unit to the left.
$\Rightarrow \frac{35}{10} L = 3.5 L$

Extra juice that can be added to fill up the 5 L jar
$= 5 L - 3.5 L = 1.5 L$
