Question

It is given that AB = 3 cm, AC = 5 cm, and ∠B = 30°, ΔABC cannot be uniquely constructed, with AC as base, why?

Solution

When AC is the base, the arc of 3 cm is made from point A.We just know the measurement of AB, but there is an arc from point A, so we cannot exactly locate point B at this instance. Hence the triangle ABC cannot be uniquely constructed.
