It is impossible to obtain a piece of magnet having only one magnetic pole. Give reasons.

  1. Every magnet consists of two poles: the north and south poles.
  2. If we break a magnet into two pieces and then suspend it freely, it will always point in the north-south direction.
  3. It indicates that the smaller pieces are also having both poles individually.
  4. If we continue breaking the magnet into smaller and smaller pieces, each piece will have north and south poles.

Therefore, It is impossible to obtain a piece of a magnet having only one magnetic pole.
