It is said that if a spaceship which is stationary and a spaceship which is moving send out a laser light waves, both the waves will cover the distance in same time irrespective of the moving spaceship. Why does this happen?

Because laser beams travel with the speed of light.
Since Speed of light is the fastest, we cannot find relative velocity with respect to speed of light.
