Solution

Transpiration is the process of loss of water in the form of water vapours from the aerial parts of plants, through special pores called stomata. It occurs mainly in leaves, but a minor fraction also occurs through stem. Transpiration is termed a necessary evil for plants, as it is required for absorption of water, but also makes plant to lose water. If rate of transpiration exceeds water absorption, then plant wilts and may even die.
