Theoretically all organisms have the same genetic code and thus a gene from one organism can function in any other organism.
  • A genetic code links the nucleotide sequence of DNA to be decoded into amino acids of proteins. It consists of 64 triplet of nitrogen bases with 4 different bases (wherethe base could be adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine).
  • Each codon codes for an amino acid. Multiple such codon sequence, codes for a particular amino acid sequence finally forming a protein.
  • Since all genes consists of these genetic codes, which happens to be universal.
So, the correct answer is option B.
