By the statement ‘it retards the process of infiltration of water into the soil after it settles down on the land’

a) it is meant that the quality of soil absorption is reduced by way of mineral processing techniques like grinding of limestone etc as they generate dust particles in the atmosphere which in turn settle down on land surface in huge amounts which result in land degradation

b) The different layers of the soil is harmed by the mineral processing techniques by humans
