Question

It takes 0.2 s for a pendulum bob to move from mean position to one end. What is the time period of pendulum ?

Open in App
Solution

In the figure, let 'B' be the mean position, 'A' be the end to which the bob traveled and 'C' be the other end.
Then according to the question
B-A = 0.2 s --------- (1)
A-B = 0.2 s --------- (2
B-C = 0.2 s --------- (3)
C-B = 0.2 s --------- (4)
We know that time period is the total time taken by a pendulum to move from mean position to one end and back to mean position and then to the other end and finally coming back to the mean position.
time period= (1)+(2)+(3)+(4)
time period =0.2+0.2+0.2+0.2

=0.8 s
