We have,
$105 \times 95 = (100 + 5) (100 - 5)$
$= (100)^{2} - (5)^{2}$ [using the identity, $(a + b) (a - b) = a^{2} - b^{2}$ ]
$= 10000 - 25$
$= 9975$
