Jaidev takes 215 minutes to walk across the school ground. Rahul takes 74 minutes to do same. Who takes less time and by what fraction?
As per the question
The time taken by jaidev to walk across the school ground =215 minutes =115 minutes
The time taken by Rahul to walk across the school ground =74 minutes
The LCM of 5 and 4 is 20.
∴ 115=11×45×4=4420 and 74=7×54×5=3520.
Now, 3520<4420.
∴74<115
⇒ Rahul takes less time.
The difference between the time taken by Jaidev and Rahul to walk across the school ground =115−74=11×4−7×520
[∵ L.C.M. of 5 and 4 is 20 ]
= 44−3520=920 minutes
Thus, Rahul takes 920 minutes less than Jaidev to walk across the school ground.
