James and Lucas have 14 chocolates each. It is decided that Lucas should have thrice number of chocolates than his friend James. The number of chocolates that James should give to his friend is .

Total no. of chocolates =14+14=28.
From multiplication table of 7, we know that 7 × 4=28.
This signifies, 4 groups of 7 chocolates will result in 28.
4 groups =3 groups +1 group.
4 groups can be divided in to 3 groups and 1 group such that 1st group is thrice than that of 2nd group.
Here 1st group indicates Lucas and 2nd group indicates James.
1 groups =1×7=7 chocolates.
Hence James should give 147=7 chocolates to Lucas.
