Solution

The correct option is D X = 2; Y = 4
The sum of the rows, columns, as well as the diagonals should be the same.

Sum of column 2 = 7 + 5 + 3 = 15
Sum of column 3 = 6 + 1 + 8 = 15

Similarly,
Sum of row 2 = 9 + 5 + 1 = 15

From above, we know that the sum of the rows, columns, and diagonals should be 15.

In row 1, we have:
7 + 6 = 13
Now, we must add 2 to 13 to make the sum 15.
So, the value of X is 2.

Similarly, in row 3, we have:
3 + 8 = 11
Now, we must add 4 to 11 to make the sum 15.
So, the value of Y is 4.
Now, the sum of the rows as well as the columns is 15.
Let's check if the values works diagonally also.
2 + 5 + 8 = 15
4 + 5 + 6 = 15

Thus, the value of X is 2 and that of Y is 4.
