Let the number of 50 $n o t e s b e x l e t t h e n u m b e r o f 100$ notes be y
then,given
x+y=170 (1)
50x+100y=10000
That is x+2y=200 (2)

Now substract equation(1) from equation (2)

y=200-170
=30
Now we need to determine x
Put the value of y in equation (1)
That is x+30=170
x=170-30
=140
Therefore
Total number of 50 $n o t e s = 140 T o t a l n u m b e r o f 100$
Notes=30
So total amount constituted by 50$ notes
=50*140
=7000
