We know that the square of a number is obtained when a number is multiplied by itself.

For example:
Square of 3 = 3 × 3 = 9

For a square root, we have to find a number which, on being multiplied by itself, amounts to the given number.

From the same example, the square root of 9=9=3

The number on Jenny's chit = 16

The number on Kaira's chit = Square root of the number on Jenny's chit
=16
= 4

Since 4 × 4 = 16, the square root of 16 will be 4.

The number on Sia's chit = Square root of a number on Kaira's chit
=4
= 2

Since 2 × 2 = 4, the square root of 4 will be 2.

Therefore, Sia picked a chit with the number 2.
