Length of rope used in her project = $\frac{5}{8}$ ft
$\therefore$ Remainig rope length = $(\frac{7}{2}-\frac{5}{8})$ ft
= $[(\frac{7}{2}\times \frac{4}{4})-\frac{5}{8}]$ ft
[Making denominator same]
= $(\frac{28}{8}-\frac{5}{8})$ ft
$\left[\frac{28}{8}\text{and}\frac{5}{8}\text{are like fractions}\right]$
$=\frac{28-5}{8}ft=\frac{23}{8}=2\frac{7}{8}$ ft
