Let the marks secured by Jim be A.

∴ Marks secured by Jamie = (A + 9)

So, the sum of marks obtained by Jim and Jamie = A + A + 9 = 2A + 9

Marks secured by Jamie = 56% of the sum of marks obtained by Jim and Jamie

So, we can write:
$(A+9)=\frac{56}{100}\times (2A+9)$

$\Rightarrow (A+9)=\frac{14}{25}\times (2A+9)$

$\Rightarrow 25(A+9)=14(2A+9)$

$\Rightarrow 25A+225=28A+126$
