Solution

The correct option is C 40
Weight of cereal boxes bought=16 kg 800 g
Weight of 1 cereal box = 420 g

∴ Number of cereal boxes bought = Weight of all boxes ÷ Weight of 1 box

Step 1: Convert the total weight of cereal boxes to a common unit (g).

1 kg=1000 g
16 kg=1000×16=16,000 g

So, the total weight of the cereal boxes in gram is 16,000 g+800 g=16,800 g

Step 2: Divide 16,800 by 420 by long division method.

4042016800 1680––– 0 0 0

∴ Joe bought 40 cereal boxes.
