Let they have x and y marbles respectively
x+y=45y=45x....................(1)

After 5 is subtracted from each
(x5)(y5)=(x5)(40x)=124x245x+324=0(x36)(x9)=0x=36,9

Hence , John can have 36 or 9 Marbles
and Similarly Jivanti can have 9 or 36 Marbles
