Calculate the number of erasers:

Let, the number of erasers he bought be x.

According to the question,

Numberofpencilsx=xNumberofpens12x=x3(Substitutingthegivenvalues)x·x=12·3(Crossmultiplyingbothsides)x2=36x=±6(Takingsquarerootonbothsides)

Since the number of erasers cannot be negative, therefore, the number of erasers is 6.
