To know the total amount of milk john had, first we need to add the quantity of milk.
Steps involved in addition of fractions are:
1.Retain the common denominator
2.Then, add numerator
Multiply both numerator and denominator of numbers with the product of the denominators of the numbers which is 6 since 2×3=6.
So, 13 + 12= 2+36= 56 litres.
