Amount of money John saves every month $= $ 10$
Let the number of months be $x .$
Amount of money John saves in $x$ month $= x \times $ 10 = $ 10 x$
Withdrawn amount $= $ 50$
Bank balance after withdrawn $= $ 250$

$Amount of money John saves in x month - Withdrawn amount = Bank balance after withdrawn$
$\Rightarrow 10 x - 50 = 250$

Step 1: Add 50 to both sides of the equation to eliminate the constant on the left side of the equation.
$10 x - 50 + 50 = 250 + 50 10 x = 300$

Step 2: Now, divide both sides by 10 to eliminate 10 on the left side of the equation.
$\frac{10 x}{10} = \frac{300}{10} x = 30$

Hence, John has been saving for 30 months.
