Solution

Jos sells two types of notebooks A and B. Each type of notebook is offered in red, blue and yellow colors.

Need to find: Different possibilities from which one can select a notebook with a specific color

This can be found through sample space diagram.

In the very first column of sample space diagram, we can include notebook types, and in the first row, all color possibilities (red, blue, yellow) of the notebook.

Sample space diagram:
Red Blue Yellow
A ARed ABlue AYellow
B BRed BBlue BYellow

For all possible options of purchase, the sample space diagram has 2 rows and 3 columns,
Therefore, there are 2×3=6 possibilities in sample space.
