The journalist Wilhelm Wolff described the causes and events of revolt in a Silesian village as follows:​

Causes:
1.In these villages weaving of cotton was the primary occupation of the people.The cotton weavers had to face huge exploitation and led a miserable life.

2.
The contractors to reduced the prices of the ordered goods and they were not given the desired amount.

Events:

1.On 4 June, 1845 a large crowd of weavers walked out from their homes and marched to the mansion of the contractors and raised demand for higher wages.


2. Following this, a group forcefull entered he houses of the contracors,broke windowpanes, furniture, porcelain etc.

3.
Another group broke into the storehouse destroyed the enire supplies of cloth.

4.A contractor fled away and brought along wih him a goup of armed forces who in turn killed eleven weavers for mishandling and creating havoc.
