Open in App
Solution

Melting:

The temperature at which a solid substance melts and changes into a liquid substance at atmospheric pressure is known as the melting point of the solid.

physical change:

  1. It is a change to the physical properties of a substance and no new substance is formed.
  2. Physical change means mainly the change in color, density, texture, volume, etc.
  3. They are generally reversible.

“Melting of wax is a physical change” :

“Melting of wax is a physical change” it can be justified in two ways as follows

  1. When the wax melts no new substance is formed so there is no change in the chemical properties of wax as a result of melting.
  2. When the liquid wax is cooled then it again solidified. So it changes from the liquid state to the solid-state.
