The management also plans to launch a new factory in a tribal area where the required raw materials are easily available and the labour-men, women, and children are available for work at low wages in the absence of development opportunities and schools :

(i) The following aspects of the case study are disturbing :
(a) Use of animals for testing the feasibility of the detergents violates animal rights.
(b) Incorrect packaging with incomplete information about the product without mentioning its safety features.
(c) Deforestation or destruction of the natural environment in a tribal area that probably is a means of livelihood for tribals.
(d) Provide low wages to labourers.
(e) Instead of education, employing tribal children in their factory.
(f) Instead of providing health and social institutions exploit the environment for the factory.


(ii) No, The new unit in the tribal area may not help the society as it violates all rights and responsibilities of the tribal people and the society under the Consumer Protection Act, 1956. Accordingly, Kayco Ltd.'s actions would lead to widespread exploitation of consumers as they could produce inferior quality products/services while exploiting the environment in which the detergents will be manufactured. Kayco also has moral and ethical responsibilities towards the community and environment, they operated and need to maintain a certain level of ethical standards and policies that ensure trust between consumers and all stakeholders in the market.
