Let the amount Keith had before shopping be $$ x$
Given ,
Cost of 2 T-shirts $= 2 \times 7 = $ 14$
Cost of 1 jacket $= $ 8$
Donated amount to a beggar $= $ 3$
Balance amount $= $ 4$
$∴$ Balance amount = Amount Keith had before shopping - Cost of 2 T-shirts - Cost of 1 jacket - Amount donated to a poor beggar

$\Rightarrow 4 = x - 14 - 8 - 3$
$\Rightarrow 4 = x - 25$

Add 25 to both the sides to eliminate the constant from the LHS
