Question

Kinetic energy of a particle is increased by 300%. Find the percentage increase in its momentum.

Open in App
Solution

When the kinetic energy increase by 300 %, new kinetic energy will be
K=K+300 K
K=K+3K
k;=4K
We know that K.E. K = p22m (m is the mass object )
Therefore, eq. (i) become
p22m=4p22m
p2=4p2
p4p2
p=2p (ii)
% change in mornentum = ppp×100
=2Ppp×100 % = 1×100=100 %
Therefore, increases in momentum is 100 %
