Let us consider the full pie to be 1.

Part that Krishh had = $\frac{5}{12}$

Part that Ferdie had = $\frac{2}{9}$

The LCM of 12 and 9 is 36.

$\therefore$ The total part consumed by both of them = $\frac{5\times 3}{12\times 3}+\frac{2\times 4}{9\times 4}$

$=\frac{15+8}{36}=\frac{23}{36}$

$\therefore$ Part of apple pie remaining

= $1-\frac{23}{36}=\frac{13}{36}$
