Solution

Dear Student,

The depressions on the surface of the earth are known as Craters. It is also called as Lunar Craters or Impact Craters. These Craters are formed by impacts of a smaller body, usually the impact of a meteorite result in the formation of Craters. These Craters typically have raised rims and floors that are low in elevation than the surrounding terrains. Moon has mountains, plains and depressions such as craters on its surface due to which shadows are noticed on the Moon's surface.
