Solution

Finding the number of marbles Leah has:

Given, Leah has 28 more marbles than Dan.

13 of Leah’s marbles = 45 of Dan’s marbles.

Let L be the number of marbles with Leah and D be the number of marbles with Dan.

If Leah has 28 more marbles than Dan,

L=D+28

Also, if 13 of Leah’s marbles is equal to 45 of Dan’s marbles,

13L=45D

Now substituting L as D+28 in the above equation we get,

13D+28=45D5D+28=12D5D+140=12D140=12D-5D140=7DD=1407D=20

Now substituting the value of D as 20 in L=D+28,

L=20+28L=48

Therefore, the number of marbles with Leah is 48.
