Leaves of plants wilt on a bright sunny day.

Open in App
Solution

Wilting:

  1. The loss of turgidity of the areal parts of the plant that makes it droop is called wilting.
  2. It occurs due to less water in the cells.
  3. On a bright sunny day the transpiration increases which thereby enhances the water loss in plants.
  4. The rolling of leaves reduces the surface area for water evaporation.

Wilting is observed on a sunny day to reduce the water loss in plants.
