$Perimeter of the rectangle = 2 \times [length + breadth] = 2 \times [9 + 7] = 2 \times 16 = 32 c m .$

Now the Perimeter of the square = Perimeter of rectangle = 32 cm.
Side of the square $= \frac{32}{4} c m = 8 c m$
Hence, the length of the side of the square = 8 cm.
