Question

Length of a rectangle exceeds its breadth by 6 meter if its perimeter is 64 meter then find its length and breadth

Open in App
Solution

Let breadth , b = x m
length , l = (x+6)m
given perimeter of rectangle = 64m
Formula for perimeter of rectangle = 2 (l+b)

we know perimeter
and substitut b and l

64=2 (x+6 +x) m

64=2 (2x+6)

2x+6=64÷2

2x=32-6

x=26÷2=13m

We know we took breadth b = xm

so breadth , b = 13m

and length of the rectangle exceeds its breadth by 6 meter

l = x+6 = 19m
