Solution

(i) Here A = {1, 2, 3, 4} and B = {1, 5, 9, 11, 15, 16}.

A×B={(1,1),(1,5),(1,9),(1,11),

(1,15),(1,16),(2,1),(2,5),

(2,9),(2,11),(2,15),(2,16),

(3,1),(3,5),(3,9),(3,11),

(3,15),(3,16),(4,1),(4,5),

(4,9),(4,11),(4,15),(4,16),

f={(1,5),(2,9),(3,1),(4,5),(2,11)}

Now (1,5),(2,9),(3,1),(4,5),(2,11)ϵA×B

f is a relation from A to B.

(ii) Here f(2) = 9 and f(2) = 11

f is not a function from A to B.
