(ii) Which set is the superset of C?

Solution

Proper subset: If P is a subset of Q and Q contains at least one element which is not in P, then P is a proper subset of Q.

Superset: In the above condition, Q is said to be the superset of P.

(i) Here, B= {a} and C= {a, b}
Set A contains at least one element which is not in sets B and C.
Therefore, sets B and C are proper subsets of set A.

(ii) Set C is a proper subset of set A. Therefore, we can say that A is the superset of C.
