Let A and B be two independent event then show that P(AB)=1P(A)P(B).

Open in App
Solution

Given A and B are independent then P(AB)=P(A).P(B)......(1).
We know
P(AB)=P(A)+P(B)P(AB)
or, P(AB)=P(A)+P(B)P(A)P(B) [ Using (1)]
or, P(AB)=P(A){1P(B)}+P(B)
or, P(AB)=P(A){1P(B)}+1{1P(B)}
or, P(AB)=P(A)P(B)+1P(B)
or, P(AB)=1P(A)P(B)
