Given that:
$f (x) = 4 x^{2} - 8 k x - 9$

Let $a$ and $- a$ be zeros of of the given polynomial then
$a + (- a) \Rightarrow \frac{- (- 8 k)}{4}$ [Sum of roots $= \frac{- b}{a}$ ]
$k = 0,$

Hence, $k$ comes to be zero.
