If P makes an angle of 45 with either of the axes, the magnitudes of X and Y will be equal.

The statement A is true.

If P is directed along xaxis, then the magnitude of X will be equal to the magnitude of P and magnitude of Y will be zero.

Similarly, if P is directed along yaxis, then the magnitude of Y will be equal to the magnitude of P and magnitude of X will be zero.

Also, magnitude of both the components can never be equal to the magnitude of P.
