Given equation is y21+r+x2r1=1
For above equation to represent an ellipse , r1>0 and r+1>0
r>1 and r>1
r>1
So, r>1 y21+r+x2r1=1 represents ellipse with major axis as y axis.
r+1>r1
e=1(r1r+1)=2r+1
Similarly, for the given equation to represent hyperbola,
(r1)(r+1)<0
r(1,1)
Now, r(1,1), r1(2,0) and r+1(0,2)
So hyperbola will be of form y21+rx21r=1
Now e=1+(1r1+r)=21+r
