Let a be the first term and d is a common difference of given A.P

nth term of an A.P is given by, an = a+(n1)d

given, tm = a+(m1)d = 1n

ad = 1nmd (1)

and, tn = a+(n1)d = 1m

ad = 1mnd (2)

solving (1) and (2),

a=d = 1mn

so tmn = a+(mn1)d

=ad+mnd

=1m nd +1

= 1m - 1m +1

= 1, [Using above relations]
