"Li2O is more stable than Li2CO3."
Both Li+ ion and O2 ion have small ionic radii and high charge densities.
Hence, these small ions pack together forming a very stable lattice of Li2O
On the other hand, in Li2CO3 , the carbonate ion have larger size. Hence, the lattice formed is less stable due to inefficient packing.
