Let the capacity of the jug = V
The capacity of the cup = C
The jug was initially 45th full.

Six cups of water were taken out and four cups of water were poured into it.
So, the volume became 34th of the total.


Intitial volume Cups taken out + Cups poured = Final volume

Let, the capacity of each cup be 'N'

4V56N+4N=3V4

4V52N=3V4

4V53V4=2N

16V15V20=2N

V20=2N

V=20×2N
V=40N

A total of 40 cups of water are required to fill the jug completely.
