The lining of the channel is an important anti-water logging measure as it reduces the percolation of water to the groundwater reservoir and thus prevents the rising of the water table.

Note:

  • An agricultural land is said to be waterlogged when the soil pores within the root zone of the crop are saturated to such an extent that normal circulation of air within the soil pores is totally cut off.
