Solution

The correct option is C DNA ligase
An antibiotic resistance gene is a selectable marker. A selectable marker is a gene present in vectors such as plasmids that help in identifying and eliminating non transformants and selectively permitting the growth of the transformants. During such selection using antibiotic resistance genes, antibiotics kill bacteria that do not have the plasmid vector with the resistance gene in the cell, hence selecting the transformants.

DNA ligase is used to link the antibiotic resistance gene with the plasmid. DNA ligase catalyses the joining of the 3′-OH to the 5′-phosphate, by forming a phosphodiester bond between two successive nucleotides.

The DNA polymerase is an enzyme that synthesises the DNA molecules from nucleotide triphosphates, the molecular precursors of DNA. It polymerises DNA polynucleotide by adding deoxyribonucleotides at the 3′-OH group of the growing DNA strand and synthesises the new strand in the 5'→3' direction.

RNA polymerase is an enzyme that transcribes RNA from DNA. It synthesises the RNA strand in the 5' to 3' direction, while reading the template DNA strand in the 3' to 5' direction.

Restriction enzymes are a type of endonucleases that cleaves phosphodiester bonds within specific sequences of DNA known as restriction sites. These enzymes make a single incision on each of the two DNA strands and are also called restriction endonucleases.
