Solution
Liquefaction of gases:
The physical transformation of a gas into a liquid state is known as liquefaction (condensation).
Gas liquefaction is a complex process that employs a variety of compressions and expansions to achieve high pressures and extremely low temperatures, such as turboexpanders.
The intermolecular distance in gases is extremely large. Increasing the pressure brings the gas molecules close together while lowering the temperature causes the attractive forces to rise.
As a result, high pressure and low temperature are the best conditions for liquefying a gas.
The molecular forces of the gas molecules determine the pressure and temperature that has to be applied.
The intermolecular force of attraction increases as the critical temperature rises, making gas liquefaction easier.
