Condensation is defined as the change of the physical state of matter from gas phase to liquid phase, whereas, evaporation is defined as a type of vaporization of a liquid that occurs from surface of a liquid in an unsaturated gas phase of the evaporating substance.
Here the conversion of liquid to gas is known as evaporation.
However, the conversion of gas to liquid is known as condensation.
Hence, Liquid to gas and gas to liquid changes are called evaporation and condensation respectively.
